Editing Blog at The Skate Park

So, we finally filmed our music video!!! At first because of all the minor adversity we faced throughout the filming process it seemed like we were never going to get it done. We had so much footage that we had about 4 whole minutes of solid scenes. We had to do so much improvising when we actually got to the skate park that it went against our whole storyboard. Amelia took the camera home and dumped the footage on her computer at home and sent Amina and I the file. Once we began editing yesterday, we reviewed all of our footage to make sure we wouldn't insert the wrong footage. Cropping was the next part to editing our music video, I believe some areas in the film we cropped the wrong way which is why our audio was not in line. We had major issues with trying to match the audio with the words we were actually singing. It seems as if we filmed without keeping in mind that we were lip singing the words so they'd eventually have to match the original song. We have not finished editing we do have the weekend but since we have so many clips we think we'll just cut out the parts where we lip sing.
Filming way past our schedule actually wasn't that bad. We had film to shoot and we finished editing in one day. Although we are not 100% finished, the only thing left to do is align the audio with the video. We also have to go back in and play around with the video to make sure that everything is in tact before we send it in on Monday. We do not have to go back and re-shoot which is actually really good. So that eliminated any errors we may have had of shortage of film when we actually started to edit. I cropped and input transitions in with the help of Amina. While Amelia is continuing to play around with the music. We wanted to stay as true to the original film as possible so we actually pulled off a really great film.

Filming 2

So this week we planned on filming, in which we were supposed to film last week. The same thing that happened lat week happened again this week. One member of our group decided it was a good idea to not show up on the day of filming. We still have yet to pick a good time to film our music video and we are running out of time. Our initial plan was to be done by now and begin our editing process. Amelia and I were at the meet up location and waited for Amina to get there and she didn't come so we both went home. Now we have to try and fit in time within the upcoming week to film. I am kind of upset because I wanted to just be done with it but it seems as if we’ll never get this done. I liked filming the commercial a lot more because it was on campus and we had one set day to film for the whole class. Now it is up to us which is hurting us in the end.
I held on to the camera as long as I could and we are able to check it out during the week so we now plan on filming Wednesday. Although we were missing a member we did get in a few shots, our opening (our establishing shot), and our two out of three close ups introducing our characters. We really needed her to come so that we can at least film some scenes then film the rest another day. When we do film Wednesday we have no time to waste! We have to get right into it. The first scene I would like to start with Amina’s close up. It kind of of worked out for us though, because our dancers didn’t show up and we left all of our props at home. We also wanted a good lighting so we planned on filming during the day time and but we were all late so it was dark by the time we got to the park. Although when we got there, there were actually skaters there so we would still have them in the background which is good. And we have permission to film there!
Lastly when we begin to film I would like to edit for only a day. It did not take much time to edit when we were int the process of doing our commercial.
